running bounceback ultimate V11.3.084. also xpsp3 with all patches.
during midnight backup the bb task hangs with a .net framework error.

this happens every night. I can hit continue on the .net error then it thinks the backup terminated normally. but it didn't.

this happens whether I have my bounceback backup drive loaded or not.

info follows

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Can you provide us with the following information in order to better assist you:

1. Did you perform a new installation or was this an upgrade from a previous version of BounceBack?

2. How many backup sets did you configure?

3. What type of backup sets did you configure? (System Backup, Data Only, Versioned, Synchronized)

4. What type of backup drives are you using? (Secondary internal, External USB, External E-SATA, Network  Attached Storage drive).

5. Are you attempting to perform a backup of multiple drive using one backup set?

6. What file system is your backup drive using? Right-click the backup drive within My Computer and select Properties. It should either be FAT32 or NTFS.

7. Do you have CDP enabled or a schedule backup that runs at the time of the error?

Can you provide us with the following information in order to better assist you:

1. Did you perform a new installation or was this an upgrade from a previous version of BounceBack?

* upgrade install from your March distribution with the new one from November*

2. How many backup sets did you configure?

*only one backup set* local disk via ATA or USG (I have a laptop). Dell inspiron 8500 with module bays.

3. What type of backup sets did you configure? (System Backup, Data Only, Versioned, Synchronized)

*full system backup*

4. What type of backup drives are you using? (Secondary internal, External USB, External E-SATA, Network  Attached Storage drive).

*bounce back used to work fine when I put the BB backup drive in the external usb module bay or in the secodary module bay mounted directly in the laptop chassis*

5. Are you attempting to perform a backup of multiple drive using one backup set?

*there is only one backup drive. its local* I am backing up my system C: drive*

6. What file system is your backup drive using? Right-click the backup drive within My Computer and select Properties. It should either be FAT32 or NTFS.

*NTFS. it is a 250GB drive. I reduced the partition size to 132GB and backups and boot to the BB recovery disk is fine*

7. Do you have CDP enabled or a schedule backup that runs at the time of the error?

*CDP is turned off. a full system backup is scheduled to run every night at 11:30PM. the .net error showed up with the new november version. I did apply all the microsoft .net updates that are available from windowsupdate including any optional ones. I am running xpsp3*

**NOTE: to start with a clean slate. I ran your uninstaller and loaded the november version brand new. it wants to wipe the good BB system saveset that I have* How can I work around this. the old BB system saveset is the known good one". if my C: drive is problematic because of a software or patch version mismatch this is the only one I have to go back to.

can the november version run with a system saveset created by the march version of BB ultimate? or is my good saveset now gone because your new november version wrote over the system backup incrementaly?

so the net is: incremental install fullsystem backup only one logical backup drive only a system backup of my C drive. running xpsp3 and ntfs. have all new .net patches installed. cdp is off until I figure this all out and bb was scheduled to run a scheduled system backup at 11;30PM every night (with or without the bb recovery drive being mounted.

hope this helps :)

We don't believe it is an issue with the .Net Framework on your computer as you are able to correct this issue by reinstalling the BounceBack software.

This is an error that is generated through the JIT in the .Net Framework. Do you utilize any type of registry cleaning applications on this computer? Any that would run at startup or automatically?
